Simply delicious. We went there for my partner's 34th birthday -- he is Portuguese, and constantly looking for a taste of the familiar. Leitao nailed it. Standouts include the Iberico ribs and pork with clams, although literally everything was delicious. A touch pricy, but the small plates are not, in fact, small, and the quality is unmatched. The service was also top-notch -- the host asked ensured he knew my partner's name and reason for celebrating, and brought out some delicious custard tarts to wrap up the meal. We'll be back soon.

Nothing to say but amazing experience. Loved every single dish. The clams (Ameijoas em Caldeirada) were hands down delicious and the buttered toasted bread was so good to dip. The piri piri chicken had a rich smokiness. Truffle fries were a craving and this hit it on the nose. Staff was so friendly and attentive. We were given complimentary pasteis de nata (egg tarts), which were freshly baked and tasted just like Portuguese egg tarts in Belém, Lisbon. Loved this restaurant. Cozy chill date night in West Village. Will be back soon!

I was in NY for work and wanted to try something different. I made reservations online for four people. We ordered a medley of dishes and it did not disappoint. We were all happy with the amazing food, service and ambiance. Next time, we are going to pre-order their succulent pig roast. Come and visit this amazing restaurant. Price point seems to be reasonable for NYC.

The kindest staff and the most flavorful food. Went just before Christmas and the intimate vibe was perfect. I was seeking the first francesinha since visiting Portugal and they certainly do it justice, but the garlicky Tiger shrimp were exceptional. The bartenders recommendation for an unusual almond based cocktail was one of the highlights of my week. We walked in and were happy to sit at the bar but the staff was working out how to fit us in at a table which I thought was such lovely hospitality - but honestly we opted to stay at the bar and chat!

this place is INSANE. some of the best food i've ever had. i've now been twice - sat outside for my birthday and indoors more recently. outside is a little chaotic as it's on the street, but super fun to people watch and a good option in nice weather. inside we sat by the window and while it's a smaller space it still felt very comfortable! staff is always lovely. drinks are nice - tried a porto sour recently and it was so unique and good. portuguese bread is amazing and perfect texture. have gotten the bolinhos and the truffle parm fries twice now and they are so so so good. on my recent visit we split some appetizers as a group and it was so much food, all of it great. got the fava beans with spinach, steak in pepper sauce, beet salad for the first time in the recent visit - all of it was perfect. my other visit split the arroz de marisco with my boyfriend, and honestly we could've stood to split it with 1-2 more people! everything is full of great flavor and comes out pretty quick. rounded off the nights with pasteis de nata which our server brought to us as a treat - so so so delicious! like a little french toast bite. this place really deserves all the love it gets and is a must visit

"My favorite Portuguese restaurant" Really enjoy this place! I've been here a few times and really it all -- food, vibes, wine and staff. What's to cheer - The downstairs room is more private and perfect for a small group. Great decor all the way around though - Fantastic, comprehensive Portuguese wine list - Reasonably priced and good value -- especially in the West Village - Very authentic. The seafood stew and bacalao are great - Good cocktails What's to jeer - Not much! I know they have a lot of special event nights and I'm looking forward to attending one soon!

I went to Leitao recently and had one of the most lovely restaurant experiences of my life! Leitao is a Portuguese restaurant that serves nourishing, warming, and comforting food. It is also beautifully decorated and has amazingly kind staff! We walked in on a Sunday at around 4:00 pm and got seated immediately. Victor was our waiter and he was so so kind and attentive! He answered all our questions, offered us good recommendations on what to order, and even let us try some of their desserts. The service here is phenomenal and just one additional reason to visit Leitao. For our apps, we ordered the Camarao and the Porco Preto to start (the latter because of our Victor's recommendation). The Camarao is a dish of large shrimps in a blend of bourbon, garlic, chili and lobster sauce. I am not the biggest shrimp fan but my friends really enjoyed this dish. It also came with Portuguese bread, which was one of the BEST breads I have ever eaten at a restaurant. Their Portuguese bread is baked in-house, drizzled with olive oil, and seasoned with a number of different delicious spices. I could not stop eating it and using it to dip in our other broths/sauces. The Porco Preto was one of my favorite bites of the night. I highly highly recommend this dish!! The Iberico pork ribs were so juicy and tender--literally fall off the bone/melt in your mouth. The ribs are also served in a flavorful house-made Calabrian garlic chili sauce that I wish I could've bottled up to take home. (I recommend taking the Portuguese bread and dipping it in this sauce!) For our main, we got the massive Arroz de Marisco. This is a seafood rice dish with shrimp, little neck clams, mussels, cod, and chorizo in a rich broth with saffron-infused rice. Wow. This dish was also so delicious. When we ate at the restaurant, it was a rainy, dark, and cold day and this dish warmed us all right up. The rice really soaks up all the rich flavors of the broth and is so delicious with the well-cooked seafood. I would highly recommend if you are a seafood fan. We ended up staying for around 2+ hours at the restaurant and no one ever rushed us. At the end, our server even brought out some Pasteis de Nata and Pera em Vinho do Porto for us to try. The Pasteis de Nata tasted just like the ones I tried in Lisbon; flaky, custardy, warm... yum! The Pera em Vinho do Porto was also so delicious. Although simple, this poached pear soaks up all the flavor of the Port and the warming spices of cinnamon and black pepper. And when eaten with the cool and creamy mascarpone... it truly makes for a bite to remember. I absolutely loved this restaurant and would recommend it to everyone! I don't think you could ever go wrong with anything you order here. I will for sure be back to Leitao!

What an amazing experience at Leitao. We went with a large group 6 people. I made a mistake with my reservations, when I reserved on Resy app it only gave me two options: Outdoor or Patio. I thought that Patio would be something indoors and/or a garden area in the back, because obviously "outdoor" is outside. However, when we got there, patio was the outside area! It is a covered space on the street! It was not a warm evening, and our group was not able to sit outside! Then the host was so gracious he set us up with a nice table in the cellar! Where they perform fado music. This area was SO perfect for our group! Next I have to call out our server, she was so amazing! We were celebrating a birthday in our group and she gave us desserts to share. She was always checking in on our group and made sure we were all happy during every step of our meal. She was definitely the highlight of our meal! Now for the food, oh boy! We were ALL so happy with every single dish, we ordered a plethora of small and large dishes. We basically ordered every dish on the menu! Some of the highlights we loved: - Bife a Cervejeiro, this mushroom sauce was incredible! We kept dipping with their homemade bread!) - Salad de Polvo (octopus salad) - Ameijoas em Caldeirada (clams which had the most amazing soupy broth! I could not get enough of it!) - Truffle fries - Porco Preto, another table favorite!! Iberico pork ribs which literally fell off the bones! - Arroz de Marisco, this is a huge dish! So flavorful and with loads of seafood, literally a mountain of seafood! - Robalo, the sea bass which was one of the most tender sea bass ever! And of course, you cannot leave without trying their pasteis de nata, which was so warm and hint of cinnamon. It was not as sweet as the ones I've had in Portugal! Don't walk to Leitao, RUN! We had the best experience. Already plotting my return this weekend!

Came for dinner and sat downstairs in the cellar, which is super cute. I tried: + Passionfruit margarita + Amantes do Carvalho + Bacalhau (cod) + Pork ribs + Seafood with rice + Burrata & iberico salad + Spinach with fava beans + Roasted potatoes + Pastei de nata My favorite dishes were the burrata, spinach and potatoes, followed by the pork ribs. Egg tart was great. Portions were really big, so we definitely over-ordered, but I never complain about having lots of leftovers.
